Possums and Aussies!

hello all....
sooo my time of chillin in Sydney is almost over. On monday I will be starting work in Port Hacking at Youth Works... I am not sure really what I am going to be up to there, and what my job really is.. but I really hope that it will be a great experience.
So what have I been up to lately you must be asking yourself???
WELL...let my tell you life is always an adventure in Sydney, Jill and I have been house sitting at a house that has a pool and a huge TV...those being the only benefits...it turn out the house is a bit of a mess...that is putting it lightly!! but its been great having people over and making some mad barbies...
One night as we sat around the table a POSSUM came onto the porch..me being the obnoxious Canadian grabbed my camera and ran out to take some pictures.. Jill was not so impressed apparently possums are just like raccoons ...annoying that is... so here are some pics.....

Last night Jill her brother Tom and I headed into the city to see a hip hop show...an artist called Common, great night...top night as the aussies would say...first hip hop show and I was not dissapointed...here is a pic of us right before the show..all of us looking mighty hot..

Another exciting thing happening these days well.. today was Australia day.... so we headed into the city to check out the sites.. lots of people hanging out..tons of Aussie flags ..music and street acts...we had some coffee...or a flat white as they would say... and checked out what was going on...another good day here in aussieland...

the sun in sydney...

the sun has finally found its way to sydney!
i have just spent the day lounging at Manly beach, had a pizza picnic in the park with Jilly and the Boys..and finished the night off at a place called Max Brenner...and seriously we need these in Canada...they sell only CHOCOLATE desserts...definalty a delicious treat.
starting tommorow Jill and I are house sitting at a house with a pool so that should be great!
its great to hear that lots of people are checking this site out...hope you are all well and the the winter isnt treating you to bad!

and this is a drought??

Hello everyone...well the time has come for me to update you all on my life...let's see,
it has been raining in Sydney for the last week pretty much non stop...and all the Australian's claim...that this never happens and the they are honestly in a drought. I dont really believe it. However it is supposed to be clearing up today and the sun should be out, it is expected to be 28 degrees today, so that should be lovely. So the rainy weather has meant more creative sight seeing than usual, seeing as most of the great things to do in Sydney are outdoors, but through some careful planning and a desire to be come more cultured....I have been to more art galleries and musems than ever before in my life...
Its been so great thought, seen some amazing things. Still havents seen a Kangaroo, BUT I did see a Cockatoo (see pic) which is pretty exciting although apparently is the Australian equivilent to a Blue Jay.

This is a photo from the outside of the Museum of Sydney..there is a exhibit on about the history of Bondi beach...quiet interesting...hmmmm

This is a photo from Sydney's large China Town..it was cool to visit this area, much different than the rest of the city, but definatly worth a visit..look at the name of the resturant in the back..haha
Well thats it for now..i will post more later.. I have less than two weeks until I start at Youth Works..so that should be great.. This week has many fun things planned... a night out in sydney, AUSTRALIA DAY!!! and an Adventure to the Beach with Jilly and Mel!

Its a little rainy :(

Hey all!! ok well in explination of the bucket thing..haha there was this really cool artist at the museum of contemporary art.. and he had all these interactive exhibits...so basically you do the art..but it was all so hillarious..i will post more pics of it later...today Jill Ben and I are heading into the city again to check out some more art museums...and a huge exhibit on the history of Bondi beach....hope you are all well ....

Finally in Sydney!

Hello Everyone!
So I have been in Sydney for 4 days now..and it is so amazing! The flight here was insanely long and tiring, but i guess it could have been worse. I ended up being on the same flight as a friend from BC, Ben Stevenson, for those of you who know him, so that helped with the bordum! And let me tell you 14 hours on a plane will make you want to go crazy, but free food, some gravol and movies help the time go by faster. A great friend named Jill!! who I have not seen since her time at GC four years ago picked us up from the airport and we have been staying with her and checking out Sydney. Which is an increadible city! Right now we are in mid summer and the Summer in the City Sydney Festival 2006 is on, which means amazing events and activites on all summer! Jill has been a great tour guide..so I thought I would list some of the stuff that I have done and you can google them if you want more info...so here we go...

1. The BEACHES!!
ok so I have been to a few already and they are so beautiful!! We checked out Bondi - one of the more famous beaches. Narabeen - a little more seculded beach. Curl Curl and Coogee- which were so great and have cool names! So needless to say I now have a tan - which was a bit of a burn..haha..but what do you expect from a pasty white Canadian!

2. The CITY!!
Jill lives in a suburb of Sydney called Turramurra...yea the names here are so funny and Aussies really like to make fun of Canadians who cant say them right! So there are so many cool things to do in the city, I have spent some time on the train and walking around the Sydney Harbor - by the Bridge and the Opera House..OH and I saw an Australian Celebrity walking down the street..Some Australian Idol guy called Dan...
Checked out the Sydney Aquarium...maybe one of the coolest things I have seen...lots of sharks and penguins!! so awesome...and I saw a Platypus ...those things are so crazy!!! but really cute!

3. Summer in the City Events -
The Sydney Contemporary Art Museum has some really cool exhibits right now... An artist named Erwin Wurm - his stuff is hillarious...check out the bucket picture and you will understand...and the puffy car...very cool..
last night we headed into the city for Jazz at the domain..this huge park where they had a bunch of Jazz bands from New Orleans playing ..there were thousands of people...it was amazing!

So those are a few of the cool things I have done so far...there are so many cool cafes and no chain resturants ... so we have eaten at some really cool places on the beach ... we went the markets yesterday... full of venders and they all had really need stuff....OH saw some guys playing the diggerydoo on the street...very neat!
Timing worked out that we were able to meet up with Mike Misner, Charolette and Wes to hang out .. so that was great too!
Well I cant really think of too much else at the moment, theres lots more to come! Ihave two more weeks in Sydney, Jill and I are going to go on some road trips and maybe do some camping so that should be great! I start at Youth Works on the 30th of Jan and apparently it is beautiful..so I am looking forward to that too!
